I am a new subscriber and want to kick myself for not subscribing sooner to save money from the newsstand prices for this bible of a book. For almost 20 years I have followed Combat Handguns and have found most of the articles informative and keep up on the newest introduction of products, in the ads too. Great read, always.

First I don't know if this is the correct place to write this, hopefully it will be looked at in the right light! I have always enjoyed reading your magazine however in your recent March 2007 issuesthere was an extremely dangerous and misinformed article about "First-aid items to carry", where it talked about QuickClot. Obviously there wasn't very much research given to this topic because if there was you would never had printed what you did. QuickClot was the best thing on the market at the beginning of the war in Iraq. However you will be hard pressed to find any unit still using it, except for a massive femoral artery injury. QuickClot will burn nerve endings, skin and anything that has moisture I.E. they eyes. For your magazine to come out and tell regular citizens to by and use this stuff is very irresponsible on the part of the author and editor. If anything the product TraumaDEX is a much safer and more user friendly product. A simple compress and direct pressure is about all a normal citizen should be told in a magazine, if they want more training then direct them to such. Please do something to correct this problem before people start pouring this stuff on minor lacerations and blinding themselves!
